Irma and The Emergency Candles

No, it's not a new '80s tribute band.

I just put away the "Unscented Emergency Candles,"  which lead me to wonder, "What would we buy in the case of a 'scented' emergency?"

Fortunately, Hurricane Irma, which (or who?) was originally predicted to pass directly over us, zigzagged like an agile hydro-hag and just mildly side-swiped us.   Thank God!

But back to that scented emergency thing.  Usually, an "emergency" stinks. That is probably why you do not see air-fresheners called, "Emergency."  In many cases, it is precisely the odor of "an emergency" that air-freshener scents are designed to mask.

That being said, there is no single type of emergency, and therefore, there is no single scent.  Even if there were, how would you describe it in words?

In conclusion, to your mind-expanding Zen koans, you may now add: "What is the smell of emergency?"
