I remember Highlights Magazine in the waiting room at the doctor's office when I was a kid. "Don't touch anything in here," my mom warned, "all of these things have been handled by sick kids."
Somehow, that germ infested rag did end up in my hands, however, because I remember this "Find the Hidden Objects" picture, that some bacterial laden brat ruined for me by circling all of the lamely drawn hidden things. A fish. A star. A duck. A flower... The drawing quality of both the hidden objects and the total composition made cave paintings look like Da Vincis.
Whenever things are "hidden" in a scene, the scene always looks suspicious and weird. Things bulge out unnaturally. The key to finding hidden objects in these types of pictures is to find the areas that just LOOK WRONG, and there you will find the "hidden" things.
Anyway, my drawing, "Find the Bird," is an homage to those "Find the Hidden Object" drawings in those virulent Highlights Magazines of my youth. The point of this drawing is to drive the child viewer insane.
This is very funnnnnnny!
